Ground chicken * ½ kg
To grind
Ginger garlic paste 1 tsp
Green chilly 3 nos
Garam masala ½ tsp
Coriander powder 1 ½ tsp
Turmeric powder ½ tsp
Grated coconut 2 TBSP
Red onion 1 small, roughly chopped
Coriander leaves a handful
Using a blender, grind the above ingredients to a smooth paste. Add this to the ground chicken along with salt. Mix well to incorporate.
Place a bowl of water and dip your palm in water. Take small portions of the ground chicken and masala mixture and make medium sized balls. Set aside.
*If chicken is not available in the ground form, take chicken breasts and cut to small cubes. Run through a blender and use in the above recipe.
For the curry
Onion 2 small, coarsely ground
Ginger garlic paste 1 TBSP
Green chilly 2 nos, slit
Tomato 2 medium, pureed
Shallots 3-4 nos, sliced
Turmeric powder ¼ tsp
Red chilly powder 2 tsp
Coriander powder 2 TBSP
Ground coconut ½ cup
Lemon juice 1 tsp
Salt as needed
Oil 2 TBSP
Water 1 ½ cup
Preparation
In a pressure cooker, heat oil and add the ground onion and shallots. Saute until translucent and add the ginger garlic paste and green chilly. Saute for couple of minutes and tomato puree. Mix well and cook until oil separates. Now add turmeric powder, red chilly powder and coriander powder. Mix well and cook until raw smell goes off. Add salt and 1 ½ cup water. Bring this to a boil. When boiling, add the chicken kofta balls CAREFULLY. Close the pressure cooker with the lid and cook till 1 whistle. Allow the pressure to release itself. Open the cooker, give a mix and add the ground coconut. MIX WELL and cook till boiling, then add 1 tsp lemon juice. Switch off flame and garnish with coriander leaves. This goes very well with rotis or rice…
Notes:
You can replace chicken with any meat of your choice.
You can add potatoes, if you like them..

ReplyDeleteManju..I dont think the cooked, shredded chicken will hold by itself, you ll need any binding agent like potato or eggs to make it as koftas..
