Here is an easy peasy curry with everyday ingredients that pairs very well with both rotis and rice. Hope you all like it…
Green gram/moong dal whole/cherupayar 1 cup
Red onion 1 small, thinly sliced
Green chilly 2 nos, slit
Tomato 1 small, cut to quarters
Garlic 2 pods, roughly chopped
Coriander powder 1 tsp
Turmeric powder ½ tsp
Red chilly powder to taste
Garam masala a pinch
Salt as needed
Oil 1 tsp
Preparation
Heat oil in a pressure pan/ cooker. Add the thinly sliced onions and garlic. Sauté this until translucent. Next add the green chilly. Saute for another minute and throw in all the powders in the order mentioned above. Saute until the raw smell from powders are all gone. Next add the washed green gram/moong dal/cherupayar. Mix well and add about 2 cups of water. Adjust salt and give a good mix. Close the pressure cooker/pan and cook till 4-5 whistles. Switch off flame and allow pressure to release by itself. Open lid and add tomato. Switch the flame on and cook this for another 3-4 minutes. If the gravy is not thick bring it to the consistency as seen in the picture by cooking it for another 5-10 minutes. Enjoy with rice or rotis…
Cheers!!!
