Unnakachemmen-manga chammanthi (Serves 4)

Chammanthi is, most probably the oldest form of curry that went with rice or rice porridge, especially in the Southern states of India. Its simple, delicious and adornes the dinner tables of the rich and poor alike..And here is what you will need for Unnakkachemmen manga chammanthi...

Raw mango 1 cup, cubed
Grated coconut 1 cup
Unakka chemmen (Dried prawns) ½ cup, roasted
Shallots 2 nos, chopped
Green chilly 2 nos, medium
Ginger a small piece
Salt as needed
Water 1 tsp

Preparation

Add the mango cubes, coconut, roasted dried prawns, shallots, green chilly, ginger and salt into a blender. Grind well, if needed, add 1 tsp of water. Enjoy this chammanthi with plain rice, yogurt, pickle and pappadam....

Tips

If the dried prawns are not roasted, heat oil (1-2 tsp) in a pan and roast them well until golden brown color
We like to use equal proportion of mango and coconut but if you want, use only half cup mango to 1 cup of coconut
